Once per month, the system will need to be backwashed. To do so, follow these five simple steps:

- If the system is not connected to a drain pipe, place a 5 gallon bucket under the system.
- Flip the orange switch and wait 5 seconds
- Flip the orange switch back
- Discard the backwash water
- Mark the maintenance chart

- Close the upstream and downstream shutoff valve.
- Open the drain valve to release system pressure. Drain the water into a bucket or through the hose to an existing drain.
- Unscrew the bottom of the Geva filter body.
WARNING: Hand open the body only. Never use a Pipe wrench on the Geva unit. Remove the filter assembly.
- Remove the metal and plastic retaining rings from the top of the assembly.
- Empty out, but retain the Siliphos balls and remove the magnetic core.
- Clean the magnetic core and the filter screen with mild soap and water and rinse thoroughly.
- Replace the magnetic core. Replace Siliphos balls. If the filter assembly is less than 1/3 full, add more as needed to a level just below the point on top of the magnetic core.
- Replace the metal and plastic retaining rings on top of the filter assembly, and fit the assembly securely into the filter head assembly. Make sure that the magnet points up when you place it into the filter head assembly.
- Screw the base into the top of the filter body. Hand tighten only.
- Close the drain valve and open the shutoff valves.
- Mark the maintenance chart on the back of this booklet.

| The bottom of the filter will have the three small holes and the top will have the Siliphos Balls visible. The unit will not work if the filter is installed up side down. |
